CAL POLY ARAB MUSIC ENSEMBLE with special guests! CHOOKASIAN ARMENIAN CONCERT ENSEMBLE DEC. 7, 2024 7:30 P.M. SATURDAY PERFORMING ARTS CENTER The Cal Poly Arab Music Ensemble will present a concert with the internationally acclaimed Chookasian Armenian Concert Ensemble: John Chookasian on clarinet, Barbara Chookasian on lead vocals, Ishmael on kanun, Paul Ohanesian on oud, and Mark Toomajian on dumbeg. The first half will have a suite of Arab art and popular music with instrumental genres rooted in shared traditions of the Ottoman era, choir pieces that include famous examples of the muwashshah and two contemporary dance pieces.
